jQuery.jAnimatedSprite (or jAnimatedSprite) allows moving an image's background position at a fast pace, giving the illusion of a constant running animation.

This technique is also known as sprite animation and is used on a regular basis for browser-based games.

It's very similar to how GIF images work, but jQuery.jAnimatedSprite can also handle PNGs, a higher quality format for transparent images.

A jAniamtedSprite demo is included with the download package, to help game developers get started with their own custom animation sequences.
